The case
Why this card matters.
The 1997 Topps Chrome Tim Duncan #115 rookie card is the chromium version of his Topps flagship rookie. Topps Chrome used the same basic player checklist as the paper Topps release but transferred the design onto reflective chrome stock, creating a sharper surface and introducing Refractor parallels as the main chase element. By 1997, Topps Chrome had already become one of basketball’s defining premium brands. Duncan won NBA Rookie of the Year in 1997-98 after averaging 21.1 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks per game. He was also named First Team All-NBA as a rookie, a rare achievement that immediately placed him among the league’s elite frontcourt players.
