The case
Why this card matters.
The 1997 Flair Showcase Tim Duncan #5 rookie card came from Fleer’s tiered Showcase format, which divided players into different “Row” designs with varying scarcity levels. Flair Showcase used thick card stock, high-gloss surfaces, and layered photography to create one of Fleer’s most premium base products. The Row structure allowed the company to build scarcity directly into the checklist without relying only on traditional inserts. Duncan and Gregg Popovich formed one of the longest-running player-coach partnerships in NBA history. Together they won five championships and helped define the Spurs’ identity around defense, ball movement, and roster continuity.
